Obama's secret police?

Boy this is a scary prospect.  Who's authority would they be under?  And under what laws would they operate?  Sounds like a perfect scenario for a secret police to enforce . . . dissent maybe?  Boy if Bush had this idea you would all be screaming, and I mean SCREAMING! . . . Nazi!, Facist!  The sky is falling!

WHAT?  Are you kidding?  "Just as powerful"?  "Just as well funded"?

He wants to give our sovereignty away already.  Great guy!
doomster

Hey Fly, I was trying to find out a little about this inthis thread................... http://rorap.net/about3247.html
flyupsidedown

Ah, yes.  I should pay attention more to posts.  Sounds like a grand socialistic employment scheme.  He is raising up his ideological army using our money.  Of course that would mean that he would be commander in chief also of this powerful, well funded 'army'.  If he doesn't come back to the center, there will be real trouble.  I hope it is just election rhetoric or we're in for a devisive four years.  He will single-handedly resurrect the far-righters.
ThornInMyPride

I suppose you can say the same for the programs in FDR's New Deal???
flyupsidedown

You can.  There are those economists that state FDR's actions actually prolonged the length and depth of the depression.  Money in the hands of capitalists is the way out not taxing higher to give the gov't more to spend as inefficient as that is, as we all well know.
SunAlsoRises

Lol you two are impossible.

Call me when the sky falls, kay? Rolling Eyes
doomster

Damn SAR, its falling more and more every day, do you watch the news any?
Roostercogburn

Yeah, but right now it is still Bush's fault!
flyupsidedown

It is funny how little a president can really affect what is going on.  The whole world is in a financial decline and it supposedly all sits squarely on Bush's shoulders.  If I recall correctly it started with the sub-prime lending promulgated by the Democrats in power not to mention our pres.-elect forcing banks to lend where they shouldn't have.  Fannie and Freddie are just two of many of their redistribution scheme hand-outs to get votes with.
Remember when Bush took the office from Bill Clinton?  How Clinton's  staff trashed the computers and made the transition as difficult as possible? The attorney general wanted to prosecute for destruction of public property but Bush said let it go the nation needed tending toward the future not the past.   Now Bush in turn is making high marks from journalists of how seamless he is trying to make Obama's transition.  Clinton also handed him a busted Dot-com economy whereas Bush senior handed off to Clinton a growing economy.  Clinton also blew his opportunity to kill Bin Laden and get ahead of the terrorist wave when he had the chance.  Bush is making the right decisions.  There are no political messiahs.  Bush will go down in history as a strong, principled, pro-life, decent, christian president who stabilized and grew our economy, kept the American people safe from further terrorist attacks on innocents on our soil and set a new high level mark for easing this crucial transition-of-power period.  Wait and hear Obama's remarks of praise for Bush.  Obama will sober up shortly.  You can bet Bush will instruct his team to fully cooperate in preparing Obama for the heavy task ahead.  Wish the Democrats were that grown up.

What planet are you living on??

Bush will go down as the worst president this country has ever had to suffer!

In what way? pray tell me.

Where can I even begin??

Maybe it's because his administration shredded the bill of rights, completely disregarded FISA laws and illegally spied on American citizens even without probable cause, this type of precedent paves the way for president to abuse power and spy on/wiretap political activists and whomever they define as "dissidents."

Maybe it's because he passed the military commissions act, which removes the right to Habeus Corpus, one of the most fundamental safe guards against tyrannical governments.

Maybe it's because he lied about Saddam Hussein working with Al Queda.

Maybe it's because he legalized torture, and has no problem with extraordinary rendition, which has led to several innocent Canadian and American citizens being held and tortured in Syria because the safeguards that prevent those types of slipups were abandoned.

Maybe it's because he removed the need for probable cause for law enforcement "sneak and peek" operations. Meaning any officer of law can enter any citizens home at any time and remove any article. This was originally meant to be a good thing, giving officers the chance to covertly gather information on terrorists and organized crime. Removing the restrictions and ALL oversite only makes it possible for the power to be abused by future officials who may wish to suppress dissidents.

Maybe it's because he pulled America out of the very first international treaty ever to try to combat global warming, essentially crippling it.

Maybe it's because he changed a 30 year old law to allow the hunting and commercial capturing/killing for animal products of endangered species around the world, as long as they weren't in America itself.

Maybe it's because he failed to prepare for a post-Saddam Iraq and as a result, 150,000 Iraqi civilians(not counting combatants) and over 3000 Americans have died in the ensuing power struggle. We are just recently beginning to see the long-term effects with Iran as well now.

Maybe it's because he has "claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution."

I can keep going with reasons if you wish, but the bottom line is, he has shown consistent bad judgment, and a frightening desire to increase the power of government to the point where it could easily be abused in the very same way it would be under a fascist regime! The warning signs have been there for years!

That's all you've got? Stuff like:

This one really sounds like a 'fat one'.

Yeaaaaaa!  Thanks George.  Do you even know what that treaty was about?  It would have crippled our industries. Thousands of more job losses to satisfy greenpeace and european weekies.  For what?  Another wacko sky-is-falling scheme that science is proving wrong.

You got nuthin'

Stick around for the next 50 years or so, watch history prove you wrong.

Of course, I'm sure then it'll just be the "liberal propaganda machine." Laughing
flyupsidedown

Stick around for the next fifty?  I don't think so.  That would put me in the centagenerian set.  You're right though - time will tell, but it won't take 50 yrs.  You're about to find out shortly if your crew has the goods or not.  We'll see if Pelosi and Reid are the saviors you voted for.  Gee - hope you're right.
flyupsidedown

This in from FOX:

This would be the telling sign:

Quote:
Broun said he also believes Obama likely will move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national police force.

Remember Obama gave lip service to offshore drilling during the campaign?  Now they say he will move to quickly to restrict offshore drilling.  Can we say - we told you so?
SunAlsoRises

OH NOEZ! Shocked

Quote:
A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.

Buy guns! Build a bomb shelter! Hide your children! Obama is hitler reincarnated!

Please. Rolling Eyes

You'll believe any crackpot conspiracy theorist who has something negative to say about your new president.
doomster

I bought guns and ammo this morning, have you finished the plans for the shelter yet?? LMAO, We got to call that cement truck you know.
flyupsidedown

Make sure it is radioactive impregnable cement.  It is a little over the top but that is what keeps America from becoming Amerika.  I say God Bless the Congressman.  Germany, China, Russia all became what they became after a great "benevolent" politician debuted in history.  They 'redistributed the wealth', took from the rich and gave to the poor.  It isn't that farfetched seeing how we know little of nothing about Obama except the radical company he's kept and he is the most leftist senator in the senate.  Care to stick your neck out for him?  Not till I see his policy direction and who he chooses to call his enemies.
Roostercogburn

Guns and ammo may not be a bad thing to have. As the economy goes down the tubes and more people lose their job, there will be more stealing and looting. Back in the depression, people had morals and would chop wood, paint, whatever it took to make a few pennies to feed their families. Now a days, they are just going to try and take what we have worked for. I had ADT install a security system in my house a year ago and a technician stopped by the other day to upgrade my system. He told me that business is booming and he is swamped with install orders. We talked about the crime levels and he sees an increase all over and they are getting bolder all the time. I've got my guns and ammo ready along with a sign on the back door that says: "Forget The Dog, Beware of Owner!"
doomster

Yeah, its gonna get crazy I am afraid........some folks say we haven't seen the bad end of this economy yet........and its gonna be tough to survive, I hear all kind of tales from back in the days when it hit rock bottom of what folks did to get by.....lets hope that does not happen again!  Alarm and insurance sales are growing pretty good I guess.......?
