Looking for Unique Christmas Gifts?This year, I wanted to give my friends and family something unique and fun, not the same old stuff everyone buys for everyone every year. (DVDs, CDs, Gadgets you can find in any store...etc)I decided to delve more deeply into a website a friend of mine made me aware of, and so far I've done 80% of my Xmas shopping there alone! It's called www.Etsy.com and it's a website for artistic people to sell their handmade(only!) products. At first I thought it would be a bunch of old ladies into crafts and knitting sweaters, but I was shocked at the level of talent I found on the site. There are extremely talented people making beautiful and unique(almost everything you buy there is the only one of its kind!) jewelry, clothing, paintings.... pretty much anything you can think of. I introduced it to my girlfriend and several family members, and they've done most of their christmas shopping on it as well, so I know I'm not the only one who enjoys it. 
Check out a few of the sellers I discovered on the site(some from NC!), then take some time and explore it, the site is set up to be easy-to-use and fun too. There's something there for everyone, and it's guaranteed to be unique, and something you'll never see in walmart/target/any other boring chain. honeybee.etsy.com - Handmade Jewelry MarmeeCraft.etsy.com - An extremely talented artist from NC, she makes everything from stationary to framed artwork. Her style is very "folk-art victorian" sort of similar to Beatrix Potter. barbdunshee.etsy.com - Pottery and ceramics morganstreet.etsy.com - Soaps, scented oils, preserves, beauty products.. handmadepretties.etsy.com - Zany children's clothing khphillips.etsy.com - Gorgeous handmade porcelain pottery(Based in NC!) justmadbooks.etsy.com - Self-published graphic novels FabricatedFamily.etsy.com - Self-published literature McClellanWoodwork.etsy.com - Handmade guitars ruppeldesign.etsy.com - Handmade furniture mjdinsmore.etsy.com - Mahogany Ipod cases and stands! I hope someone else finds the site useful and fun, every day I log back on I'm finding new things that would make perfect gifts. There's a huge well of underground talent in America waiting to be tapped! |
