Yea I was awakened tp a huge wind sound.  I thought it was a front moving through or something, but apparently that was the tornado.  It was dark so I couldn't exactly see a funnel or vortex, so I don't know if it went right over our house or what, but that was the most I've seen the trees bend since the last hurricane.

Yes I live in town.  In Scotland Neck.  Right where they said that it was hitting.

I'm glad you and the family are ok nighthawk. That was probably a wake up call from God concerning your political leanings. Smile

Ha.....ha.... Razz

Apparently it wasn't on the ground at the time or it was at the end of its life, so it was probably an F0.  Pretty thankful now after seeing the footage from Kenley.  I am definitely signing up for the WRAL Weather Alert system that calls you when you are in a warning.  Its better than the Skywarn radios because it uses a GIS system when they push out the warnings to only call places directly in the path, not the whole county.  Obviously folks would have been getting wakeup calls in RR for something that was never even close to ya'll.  So it sounds like a pretty worthwhile safety feature that is absolutely free.

I really did think they would have blown the warning sirens in town if we had a tornado on the way.  That was kind of a shock to me!

I use a desktop weather widget. It flashes a red "Alert" when your county is in a severe storms path.
